Based on a series of Celtic folktales, this whimsical play is filled with magic, adventure, and a generous dose of humanity. "The Selkie" uses puppetry and songs to tell the mythic story of an ordinary Brooklyn girl whose small act of kindness is repaid by a wondrous fairy tale creature from beneath the sea. (For ages 5 and up). Can be performed with a cast of 1-3 actors.
The Selkie is about the Celtic legend of the seal people, who are seals who can shed their skins and walk the land as humans. The play explores the myth in modern America through the eyes of an Irish-American girl living in Brooklyn.
